About Alana Ranney
I enjoy traveling around Maine, I look for little-known places and also visit the well-known ones. with my camera.
I love Weld and Mt. Blue State Park, Rangeley, Stratton, Dead River and Flagstaff Lake and Downeast Maine from Eastport to Jonesport!
I travel all around Maine:
Bigelow Mountains to Carrabassett including Sugarloaf Mountain and Carrabassett River and along the Sandy River images Philips Sandy River & Rangeley Lakes, Smalls Falls to Houston Brook Falls, New Portland and the Wire Bridge. Downeast Maine, Lubec, Eastport, Beal's Island, Acadia National Park, York, Portland, Boothbay Harbor, Baxter SP, visiting beaches and lighthouses along our coast, and more.
My photography is focused on: light and shadow, form, colors, and texture
-Capturing Maine's wildlife from loons to Moose and the beautiful seasons
-Up-close images of nature and exploring flora and fauna
-Natural landscapes, nature, sunsets, mountains, waterfalls
-Old barns, cars, bridges, trains, lighthouses, and abandoned places
I love to travel back roads and get off the trail exploring and finding unique places to photograph. I enjoy hiking and exploring Maine's coast, photographing nature, the forests, waterfalls, flora and fauna. I also enjoy photographing old rusty cars and trucks, old barns, lighthouses, quaint harbors, and Maine's beautiful rocky coastline. I visit state and national parks, Baxter State Park is one of my favorite places to visit! Also, Acadia NP is a must-see, if you are coming to Maine. I love all things uniquely Maine from blueberries to lobster!
I use editing sparingly. I like to create an old feel for some of my images. I convert images to black and white and use Photoshop, Lightroom, to create digital works of art and to do editing. I don't always manipulate my images.
